Dark Matter - Mars Seafoam
Dark Matter - Mars Seafoam
The Dark Matter – Mars Seafoam is a precision-engineered metal guitar built for maximum tension, stability, and control in extreme playing environments. Designed as a fully realized, highest-spec instrument, Dark Matter is uncompromising in its focus on clarity, tuning integrity, and low-end authority.
Inspired by hostile planetary terrain and relentless pressure, Mars Seafoam represents Dark Matter in its most grounded form. Every design choice prioritizes rigidity, balance, and predictability, resulting in a guitar that stays locked-in under aggressive attack, high gain, and extended-range tension.
Built to Soleil’s highest specification, Dark Matter features a black walnut body paired with a flame maple top, producing a tight, percussive low end with focused mids and controlled highs that remain articulate under saturation. A birdseye maple neck, reinforced with carbon fiber rods and secured by a two-way stainless steel heel-adjust truss rod, delivers exceptional stiffness and long-term stability for touring and heavy use.
The neck is shaped with Soleil’s custom asymmetrical C–D profile, featuring a fuller C on the bass side and a flatter D on the treble side. This geometry follows the natural mechanics of the hand, giving the thumb a solid anchor for fast, controlled picking and fluid legato while reducing fatigue during long sessions. The profile maintains the rigidity required for aggressive playing and high-tension multiscale setups.
A Richlite fretboard, 24 Jescar jumbo stainless steel frets, and multiscale 25.5”–26.5” scale length create a fast, durable playing surface optimized for low tunings, accurate intonation, and long-term consistency. Luminlay blue side markers ensure visibility on dark stages, while white mother-of-pearl inlays keep the aesthetic clean and intentional.
Hardware is minimal and uncompromising. A Hipshot black headless system paired with a Hipshot black headless solo bridge maximizes balance, sustain, and tuning stability while eliminating unnecessary mass. A Graph Tech Black TUSQ XL nut, Grover black strap locks, recessed hardware, and black knobs with abalone inlay complete a setup built for real-world performance and road reliability.
Electronics are brutally focused. A matched Bare Knuckle Painkiller pickup set delivers immediate attack, aggressive midrange bite, and tight low-end response with exceptional note separation under extreme gain. Designed for precision riffing and high-output applications, the Painkiller set remains articulate and controlled even at the lowest tunings.
Controls are direct and functional: 1 volume with coil split and a 3-way blade switch, wired for clarity, durability, and consistency.

Care Guide
Care Guide
Daily/Post-Play Care:
Wipe Down:
* Use a clean, soft, lint-free microfiber cloth to wipe down the entire guitar, including the strings, neck, and body.
* Pay extra attention to the fretboard, as sweat and oils can accumulate there.
Storage:
* Store your guitar in a hard case when not in use.
* If using a stand, ensure it's stable and in a safe, temperature-controlled environment.
Regular Maintenance:
String Cleaning and Replacement:
* Clean strings regularly with a dedicated string cleaner or a clean cloth.
* Replace strings when they sound dull or feel rough.
Body Cleaning and Polishing:
(Polyurethane Finish):
* Use a fine microfiber cloth to wipe down the guitars finish
* Avoid abrasive cleaners or polishes that could scratch the finish.
* Do not use any alcohol based cleaners or harsh chemicals
Maple Fretboard Cleaning:
* Do not use lemon oil
* To clean it, use a slightly damp cloth to remove dirt and grime.
* Avoid using excessive moisture, as it could seep under the finish and cause damage.
* If needed, apply a small amount of boiled linseed oil being careful not to drip onto the guitar body or neck. Wipe into the fretboard and let stand for 15 minutes. Wipe off the excess.
Richlite Fretboard cleaning:
Understanding Richlite:
* Richlite is a composite material made from resin-infused paper. This makes it very different from traditional wood fretboards.
* Because of its composition it is very durable, and not as porous as wood.
* This means it's less susceptible to absorbing dirt and moisture.
Cleaning Steps:
* Gentle Wiping:
* For routine cleaning, a simple damp cloth is often sufficient. Use lukewarm water.
* Wipe down the fretboard, paying attention to areas where dirt and grime tend to accumulate.
* Ensure you wipe away any moisture residue with a clean cloth.
* Tools:
* If you need to scrape off built-up grime, use a soft plastic tool to avoid scratching the Richlite. A popsicle stick can work well.
* Things to Avoid:
* Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners, as these could potentially damage the fretboard.
* Oiling is not necessary for Richlite fretboards, unlike traditional wood fretboards.
Key Considerations:
* Richlite is quite resilient, so you don't need to be overly cautious. However, it's always best to use gentle cleaning methods.
* Regular, light cleaning is preferable to infrequent, heavy cleaning.
Hardware Maintenance:
* Check tuning pegs, bridge, and other hardware for loose screws or parts.
* Clean metal parts with a dry cloth to prevent corrosion.
Environmental Considerations:
* Temperature and Humidity:
* While polyurethane is relatively resistant to environmental changes, it's still important to avoid extreme temperature and humidity fluctuations.
* Keep your guitar away from direct sunlight, heaters, and air conditioners.
* Although maple is a hard wood, large swings in humidity can still cause issues.
* Humidity levels:
* While a polyurethane finish protects the wood, extreme dryness can still cause issues with the neck. Keeping the humidity levels within a reasonable range, between 40%-60% is always recommended.
Important Notes:
* Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners on any part of your guitar.
* When cleaning the fretboard, avoid getting moisture under the finish.
* If you notice any cracks or damage to the finish, consult a professional luthier.
* When cleaning the guitar, never spray cleaning products directly onto the instrument. Always spray the product onto the cleaning cloth.
